Magazine Monday: Elle Decor

Happy Monday Lovelies!!!  Hope you all had a wonderful summer weekend!  Ours was fun and relaxing just wish it could have lasted a little bit longer.

Today's Magazine Monday post comes from June's Elle Decor article The Lake Effect.  This villa rests on the shore of Lake Geneva and incorporates Italian antiques, classical art and rich patterns and colors.

The back garden overlooks Lake Geneva, in Prangins, Switzerland.  Its stunning view and well manicured lawns make for a perfect outdoor scenery.  Can you imagine an outdoor tea party with this view?!  Gorgeous!

I love the suspended 19th century birdcages used as chandeliers.  It helps to bring the outside feeling in!

The owner, Fawaz Gruosi, also the founder of the jewelry firm De Grisogono, stands under the rose arbor in his front garden.  They added this arbor to bring in more romance to the home.  I think they aced it!

The rich ruby colors and classical touches such as the art work, Rebecca Clothing Jacob, and the 18th century pharmacy cabinet holding antique books brings a classical feeling without making it feel stuffy.

Another stunning garden!

The study is sophisticated and I am loving the detail in the desk chair and the desk is strong and masculine!

The master bathroom, the fresco of lions' head was inspired by Gruosi's zodiac sign, Leo.  It feels very regal.

And this master bedroom is warm and rich with the ruby velvet throughout the room.  It's a room fit for a king.  It was highly influenced by the Florentine style the owners tried to incorporate throughout the house.

Overall, this house is grand and luxurious!  The classical feel in modern times brings an appreciation for the the past and all the wonderful pieces that came from it that are still incorporated in houses today.  Now if I can just make a trip to Lake Geneva!

Don't forget to sign up for the E-Design giveaway!  Hope your Monday is productive and fabulous!

Magazine Monday: Veranda

Happy Monday! We hope you had a fabulous weekend. Ours was full of fun but we are definitely back into the swing of things on this very hot summer day. Would you believe us if we told you it is in the 100's!? Neither could we. Welcome to Texas!

On another note, today is Magazine Monday and this feature comes from the January/February edition of Veranda. Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony's California home is a classic beauty. It's timeless decor and fresh feel brings a romantic sophistication with a touch of glamour.

This grand staircase with the sofa in the foyer is stunning and the curvature complements the staircase so well.

The soft blue-gray walls are the perfect touch for a the feminine furnishings in Lopez's living room.

Notice the color of the cabinetry. It's very similar to the kitchen we posted about last week here. I love how the chandelier is not the average crystal one but instead more of a chain link chandelier. It gives it character and a pop of something unexpected.

Isn't the stove top to die for!? Really stands out amongst the light colored kitchen.

She loves to carry the same color scheme throughout the house which gives an easy flow. I love the addition of the right arm and left arm chaise lounges. It's almost like a his and her feel.

Now this dining room is pure glamour. The blush walls with the tufted chairs and Swarovski crystal chandelier screams elegance!

And shouldn't every girly girl have a gorgeous dress on display. Makes me consider putting my wedding dress up for all to see.

In her guest bedroom she brings in more of a peach palette for a soft vintage feel.

Can you imagine being a guest in her house?! Stunning beauty and glamour just like Jennifer Lopez.

What did you love most about her house? I think I loved it all!

Stay tuned in tomorrow for the big E-design giveaway!!!

Million Dollar Decorators

Did you watch it?
Did you love it as much as I did?

All such wonderful designers and the mixture of personalities will definitely make for an interesting show. Congratulations Bravo you've got me hooked, yet again, to one of your amazing shows.

My favorite designer so far has to be Mary McDonald cause she tells it like it is and supposedly she was the inspiration for Karen on Will & Grace and I adore that show. She has been featured in a variety of magazines including House Beautiful and Town & Country. I'm dying to go purchase her latest design book Mary McDonald: Interiors, The Allure of Style. I can't wait to see what she brings to the show.

The one that makes me laugh hysterically is Kathryn Ireland, a.k.a. Ireland. The things that come out of her mouth definitely brings the humor to the show and the accent only makes it funnier. Love it! Not only does she have a beautiful portfolio but also has her own line of signature fabrics.

The show is a hit in my books and I can't wait to see how the rest of the season plays out and all the fabulous designs created!

If you could have any one of these designers come to your house who would it be and which room would you want them to do? Can't wait to hear your choices!
